Tea Talk: Twinings Warming Chamomile & Spiced Apple

When it comes to tea, I'm usually pretty fussy. I need something that will be calming but also a pick me up, and de-caffeinated if possible. I like the idea of chamomile, but every time I have bought it, I usually drink a couple then decide that the taste just isn't quite me.

That all changed when I tried the chamomile and spiced apple tea from Twinings. I've heard a lot about their new blends of green tea (gingerbread is one I am very excited to try) and as i was wandering down the tea aisle, this seemed just the perfect autumn tea for me.. and it is! It's sweet and spicy, the chamomile isn't overwhelming and the spice is intensified when a spoonful of honey is added.  To add to that, the blend is so smooth, I can honestly say it has beaten any other 'wintery' fruit tea I've tried before!

What is your favourite fruit/herbal tea for autumn?

My Weekend In Photos : Zoo Adventures

This weekend I made a fleeting visit to the zoo farm,
it was lovely. I got to see lions, tigers, reindeer but I also got to bottle feed a lamb and feed sheep, pigs and even some deer! I have always loved being surrounded by animals, when I was younger I climbed (and subsequently fell out of) a lot of trees and I dreamed of growing up and owning a pig farm (with the piggies as pets, of course). I still think I'd honestly be insanely happy living a country life. Life by the sea is lovely, but sometimes I really miss the rolling fields and the sights of cows and sheep on a regular basis.

Where have you visited lately?

Mini Drugstore Haul!

For me, going into the drugstore is a very, very dangerous thing. So when I popped into Boots today for toothpaste, I accidentally came away with some new products to try! If by accidentally, you mean managed to maneuver myself to the opposite side of the store when a "3 for 2" on L'Oreal products sign caught my eye.. I knew I had to pick up some products I'd been lusting after.

I've never really been a lipgloss girl, for me it has always been about matte lipsticks. So when I reached for the L'oreal L'extroadinaire by Colour Riche lipgloss, I knew it had to be something special. It really is a 'liquid lipstick' and although it doesn't have that matte finish I love, it feels so smooth (but not sticky) on the lips it has become a staple in my bag. The applicator is also so precise, so you don't have to worry about mirrors when applying it. I purchased the shade 500 (Molto Mauve) however don't be deceived, it has warm undertones and isn't as 'purple' as you'd assume. I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for more of these when I'm next at the drugstore, shade 101 (Rose Melody) seems like a perfect gloss for spring!

With this purchase, I returned to my haven of matte lipsticks. Not only was the packaging of these lipsticks super chic (hello, textured? I'm digging it) but the colour selection of the L'Oreal Colour Riche Exclusive Reds was fantastic. Pictured here is Blake Lively's red, a bright, but slightly wine pigmented rouge lip. Autumn tends to leave me reaching for dark lipsticks, however this colour is just too beautiful to leave in my make up bag. The lipstick itself is fairly pigmented, not too sheer but enough pigment so it is buildable to get that Hollywood glamour lip. I'm also really intrigued to get a peek at the Colour Riche Exclusive Nudes, because I love an understated lip for everyday wear.

Finally, I gave into the hype and bought a Maybelline colour tattoo creme eye shadow. I'd never been too convinced that these would actually stay on my eyelids for as long as everybody else boasts they do, however, for once, the product lives up to its hype! It's such a smooth, buttery formulation, which is something I've found to be quite rare among highstreet creme eye bases, however, once it is applied, it does not budge. I got the shade 'Permanent Taupe' which is a beautiful neutral and perfect for a natural smokey eye. I'm looking forward to playing around with eyeshadow more now!

My Week In Photos: Pancakes & Pumpkins

I think I've eaten more pancakes this week than I have last Shrove Tuesday. Luckily I managed to walk it off in a few parks (or I like to pretend I did enough walking to burn them off..) and carved a very smiley pumpkin on Halloween.

Currently listening to: Can't Stop - Theophilius London ft. Kanye West

What have you been up to this week?

Sunday, 2 November 2014

Hello, November.

I'm feeling the post Halloween blues today. October has always been one of my favourite months, the crisp chill in the air, the leaves turning red, the nights drawing in. However, October has come and gone, and I feel like this month I've grown so much. It's no secret I've been going through a difficult and transitional time in my life, but through it all I've come out a stronger, smarter person. All in all, October has been tough but worth it. So I go into November with new goals for the final months of the year, and anticipating playing all my Christmas playlists that have been patiently waiting (Hello, Mariah Carey, your two months of glory are just around the corner).

I really want to continue to focus on my skincare throughout the winter period. The last few months I've had a big switch up in products I use (all hail the cool & creamy wash from the Body Shop) and my skin has made so much progress. Though as winter begins to arrive, I really want to focus on keeping my skin hydrated and breakout free. Also biting my nails, I really, really need to stop that terrible habit.

Next up, I really need to focus on keeping a clean, fresh diet and exercising more. Throughout October I became accustomed to taking walks around the local fields and forests, but I need to schedule time for extra cardio, yoga and ensuring I eat lots of fruit (instead of cake). I always find it so easy to eat healthily and be active during the summer, but lately all I want to do is cosy up with cookies and warm milk.

Finally, I really want to keep reading more. I've spent more time reading in the last six weeks than I have in years and I'm absolutely loving it. I've just finished 'The Lives of Stella Bain' by Anita Shreve and I've got a very big pile of books I'm planning on getting stuck into as soon as possible! There is something I love about the feeling of reading alone that feels very indulgent and cosy. Hopefully I'll end up with another pile of books to steal from my family over Christmas, because my bank account can't sustain how many I'm purchasing at the moment!

What are your goals for November?
